The Deutsche Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Organisation (DBJJO) is a regulatory body that works in partnership with the IBJJF to host several Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournaments in Germany. DBJJO advocates those who want to enhance the art for a common purpose; that being the exchange of ideas and new techniques. They provide high-level access of Jiu-Jitsu for all communities across Germany, to bring the positive impact of Jiu-Jitsu to the society at large.
The plan was to create a professional organisation for the purpose of developing a team to represent Germany nationally and internationally.
DBJJO needed a visual identity that symbolised Germany in a way that complemented the structure and edginess that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu creates. A fundamental requirement was to somehow symbolise openness, strength, humility and unity, combined with a modern touch that distinctively separated them from the often-seen symbols associated with Germany’s dark history.
The result gave distinction and shows current and potential practitioners a visual identity that is simple enough in appearance to be easily remembered.
Additional elements included within the identity is a growing series of graphics and marks used for special events and promotions, adding visual interest and flexibility throughout the life of the organisation.
